I'm a junior in highschool in Pittsburgh and i was looking to skate at western michigan in college for synchro. i was wondering if you could share some of the good things and bad things about skating for WMU.Hi! I’m not sure when you sent this, but I’ve been tumblr MIA for a while! I’m glad to hear you’re interested in skating at WMU in college. One of the major things I love about Bronco Skating is the girls. Even though we have both a Senior and Collegiate team, we act like one. We travel together, room together, basically eat, sleep and some live together as well. Everyone is cohesive and the past 3 years our club as a whole has grown so much in that aspect and others as well. I think that makes us unique because not all schools can say that.
Another plus is we have what we call “1-2 ice”. It’s where everyday (m-f) from 1-2pm the rink donates the hour of ice to us. It’s strictly ours to go and work on our skills at no charge. If you don’t have class it’s a nice way to break up your day and escape from school. The rink is also located on campus so it’s easy and quick to get to.
A negative that would go for WMU and any other school would be trying to juggle school and skating. We also have early practice/before class practices, but as skaters that’s not anything different.
I hope that answers your question! If you have any other specific questions, don’t hesitate to ask!
